Mars is 2!

Monday, February 29, 2016

This post is a little late, but better late than never!

Mars turned two a few Sundays ago! We started out the day by going to a tea ceremony for J's cousin, Cynthia. We had lunch there and got to see a lot of family that we haven't seen in a long time.

Afterwards, we drove down to Palo Alto while Mars napped in the car. He woke up just in time to visit the Junior Museum and Zoo. His favorites animals were the bees, fish, raccoons, birds, and ducklings. It was a small space, so we felt comfortable letting him run around and going from exhibit to exhibit.

Afterwards, we went to the Stanford Shopping Center to pick up his birthday cupcakes from Sprinkles. We shopped around and ended up having dinner there at CPK.

When we got home, we sang happy birthday to him, and let him blow out the candles on his very own rainbow sprinkle cupcake.

Overall, Mars had a wonderful day. Happy 2nd birthday, my little guy! We love you so much and are so proud of all the learning you do everyday. At the age of two, you are already such an empathetic, funny, loving, and easy going little person, and we feel so lucky to have you everyday.

Mars is One!

I can't believe how fast this day came and went. We had a fun time celebrating with family and friends, and Mars especially enjoyed his smash cake!

Quick update: In just the past week, he's been doing lots of new things. He started waving at people, he said, "Uh oh" a couple of times after dropping something, and he raises his hands up if he wants you to pick him up. He's still pointing at things, and he still dances whenever he hears music.

I thought I'd get really sentimental and cry on his birthday, but to be honest, it was such a busy day that I didn't really have time to get sentimental. Instead, we just had a lot of fun!

Going Out: My Birthday!

Thursday, November 13, 2014

This picture was taken last year on my birthday:

And here we were for my birthday last weekend, dirty dishes and all:

I had a really nice birthday this year. We went into the city for brunch and ice cream, took a two-hour nap after we got home, and had a delicious homemade dinner with meat we bought at the French butchery.

Chicken and waffles at Hard Knox Cafe.

Red guava and cookies and cream ice cream from Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous.

Amazing looking meat from Olivier's Butchery.

It felt like any other weekend but just a bit more special since we got to do things that we normally don't do. I'm not really into going out and doing things big for my birthday anyway, and since this was my first birthday as a mom, there's really nothing I want more than to spend time with my little family. Maybe in a few years when I turn 35 we can do something big, but for now, this is just fine :)

This past Monday was J's birthday! We took a mini-trip to a nearby coastal town, had yummy lunch at a super cute bar/restaurant, stopped by a "fancy" Taco Bell by the beach, and visited a lighthouse.

It was a good day!

My 30th Birthday

This was my last birthday as a baby-free person. Also, it was my first birthday as a pregnant lady. It was a great day! I had parent teacher conferences at work, my coworkers and I ate yummy pizza in the park, and J and I had an amazing dinner at Boulevard after work. Afterwards, I came home to fun birthday presents from amazing friends.
